It seems thin despite its first-rate cast, which includes two Academy Award winners.. Perceptive [and] deeply engaging.. . Notorious is like a piece of well-crafted bling. It looks good, and facets of it shine, but behind the gilded facade there's not much there.. Notorious obviously loves its protagonist, but the movie can't get past its own starstruck awe.. Not enough happens in Song One for the movie to really qualify as unpredictable, but it deserves credit for a steadfast avoidance of melod...
